The World Ballet Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. We will celebrate the occasion by opening the Festival with the full-length “Don Quixote” and “Swan Lake” before Programs A and B, and closing with two casts of the full-length “Giselle,” all with exceptional pairings of stellar guests from the world’s greatest ballet companies joining the Tokyo Ballet.

The inaugural World Ballet Festival 30 years ago featured full-length performances with stars that had never before been seen in Japan at the time. Our foundation feels that it is in full-length performances that dancers’ artistry truly shines, and that galas simply showcase the highlights. In reflection of this philosophy, the full-length programs have become an essential component of the World Ballet Festival, and have produced lasting ballet legends. This year’s 4 performances are sure to create new legends to augment the brilliant roster.
