Mizuka Ueno on Stage will thrill you once again. Buy tickets

Mizuka Ueno on Stage, The Tokyo Ballet's special gala featuring Mizuka Ueno, started in 2023 in celebration of her receipt of the Medal with Purple Ribbon by the Japanese government. Following the huge success in 2023 and 24, the gala will return in March 2026 in Tokyo, Fukuoka and Osaka.

In Tokyo, Mizuka Ueno and The Tokyo Ballet will be joined by the Company's long-time friend, Friedemann Vogel, Principal Dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet, who, in 2024, celebrated his 25th anniversary with the Stuttgart Ballet. He is a regular guest with us: he performed on eight consecutive Japan tours of the Stuttgart Ballet since 2002 as well as at several editions of the World Ballet Festival. He has also guested at The Tokyo Ballet's performances, among which was Giselle in 2009, where he and Ueno performed together for the first time. Although they danced together several times since then, it will be their second performance together in Japan, in Swan Lake Act II Pas de deux, after 17 years' absence.

All the four programs for Tokyo, Fukuoka and Osaka are composed of The Tokyo Ballet and Mizuka Ueno's iconic pieces. Ueno is the only female dancer in Japan who had the permission to dance as La Melodie, the lead role in Boléro, by Maurice Béjart himself.

Béjart, Neumeier and Kylián vibrate your soul. Buy tickets

Three gems by three legendary choreographers allows us to deeply perceive life, death, love and universe in three different ways.

Set to Stravinsky's explosive score, Maurice Béjart's Le Sacre du Printemps celebrates the primal power of life. The Tokyo Ballet performed it on its Italian tour to huge acclaim in 2024 and revives it in Japan for the first time in seven years.

As if symmetrically, set to slow movements from the most famous piano concertos by Mozart, Jiří Kylián's Petite Mort is a poetical and sensuous describtion of love, life, and death which accompanies our lives "from the dawn of our existence till the end".

Seven Haiku of the Moon was created by John Neumeier for The Tokyo Ballet in 1989. Although inspired by seven Haiku (a short poem consisting of words with a total of seventeen syllables) related to the Moon by five great Haiku poets, Matsuo Basho, Yosa Buson, Kobayashi Issa, Matsuoka Shiki and Yamaguchi Sodo, he established images independent of the poems. Set to the music of Arvo Pärt and Johann Sebastian Bach, the ballet is an exploration of a new dialogue between text and movements. The Tokyo Ballet revives it for the first time in 17 years, for which the choreographer visits the Company in Tokyo to finalize the casting and to give the finishing touch.

Cast Change: Zenith of Ballet

It is with great regret that we announce that Kimin Kim, Principal of the Mariinsky Ballet, has had to withdraw from Zenith of Ballet scheduled from Friday 30 January to Sunday 1 February 2026. He suffered a shoulder injury during a performance at the Mariinsky Theatre, which sadly makes it difficult for him to return to perform at Zenith of Ballet.

A replacement casting will be announced as soon as it is confirmed. We apologize to our valued audience members who have been anticipating the appearance of Kimin Kim, but appreciate everyone's kind understanding.

Cast Change: The Tokyo Ballet's Don Quixote

It is with great regret that Kimin Kim has had to withdraw from the role of Basil in The Tokyo Ballet's performances of Don Quixote on Wednesday 19 and Friday 21 November. He has become unable to travel to Japan due to an injury that he suffered during a performance at the Mariinsky Theatre.

We have been in discussion with the choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev and all concerned regarding the replacement casting, and are pleased to announce that Victor Caixeta, Principal Dancer with the Wiener Staatsballet, will now dance as Basil with The Tokyo Ballet on 19 and 21 November.

Victor Caixeta is one of the world-leading dancers of his generation. He joined the Wiener Staatsballet as Principal Dancer in September 2025 after dancing with the Mariinsky Ballet and the Het Nationale Ballet. In 2024, he danced as Solor in La Bayadère with The Tokyo Ballet, opposite Olga Smirnova, at the 17th World Ballet Festival.

We apologize to our valued audience members who have been anticipating the appearance of Kimin Kim, but appreciate everyone's kind understanding. We hope you will enjoy our performances with Victor Caixeta.

Victor Caixeta

The Brazilian Victor Caixeta started his ballet training in the social project "Pé de Moleque". Over the next few years, his teacher prepared him for various ballet competitions. When he participated in the Prix de Lausanne at the age of fifteen, eighteen prestigious schools offered him a scholarship. He opted for the State Ballet School Berlin, from which he graduated in 2017. He then joined the Ballet of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and was promoted to Soloist in 2019. Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, he left the company in March 2022 and joined Het Nationale Ballet Amsterdam as a Soloist in the same year, where he was appointed Principal Dancer. Additionally, he has danced as a guest at the Teatro dellʼOpera di Roma, Tokyo Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet and at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

Victor Caixeta joined the Vienna State Ballet as a Principal Dancer in the 2025/26 season.

His repertoire includes leading roles in the great classical ballets such as La Bayadère, Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Raymonda, La Sylphide, Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire and The Nutcracker as well as works by George Balanchine such as Jewels, Symphony in C, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Four Temperaments, Victor Gsovsky's Grand Pas Classique and Uwe Scholz' Sonata. He has also worked with renowned choreographers such as Alexei Ratmanskv, Twvla Tharp, Sir Wayne McGregor, Hans van Manen, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Jean-Christophe Maillot and Eric Gauthier.

In 2017, he received the 1st Prize and the Jury Award at the European Ballet Grand Prix, the 1st Prize at Tanzolymp Berlin and the 3rd Prize at the Moscow International Ballet Competition. In 2015, he was finalist of the Youth American Grand Prix New York.
