Ballet de l'OpÃ©ra national de Paris (The Paris Opera Ballet), the oldest with its history of 365 years and one of the most prestigious companies in the world of ballet, has now entered a new era with etoile dancer AurÃ©lie Dupont who has taken her position as the Paris Opera's Director of Dance since August 2016.
On its Japan Tour 2017, which is to be Dupont's directorial debut in Japan, the company will give total of ten performances of two different programs, La Sylphide and ãGrand Galaã. La Sylphide is a masterpiece of the French ballet which was premiered by the company in the 19th century to bring about a crucial breakthrough in the history of ballet. ãGrand Galaã features works by two great masters of the 20th century, Theme and Variations by Balanchine and Other Dances by Robbins, and last but not least, Daphnis et ChloÃ©, created by Millepied for the company and premiered in 2014.
