Performance Dates, Programs and Tickets
Quadruple bill with Maurice Béjart's masterpieces to celebrate the 40th anniversary since The Tokyo Ballet premiered the great master's Boléro.

In 1982, The Tokyo Ballet premiered Boléro, which was the first ever Maurice Béjart's ballet that the Company performed. Since then, The Tokyo Ballet has continued to perform his works both in Japan and beyond, resulting in the enriched repertoire with as many as 22 masterpieces by one of the greatest choreographers in the 20th century.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary since The Tokyo Ballet's first performance of Béjart's ballet, the Company performs the Béjart Gala including one of his three greatest works, L'Oiseau de Feu, for the first time in nine years. Observing the revolutionary element in Stravinsky's score of L'Oiseau de feu, Béjart choreographed the ballet by comparing to the French Resistance.

7 danses grecques is a series of seven beautiful dances set to the music of his friend and the great Greek composer, Mikis Theodorakis who sadly passed away in 2021. Bhakti III is a feverish, mesmerizing dance of Shiva, the God of Destruction of the Hindu Trinity, and his wife, Shakti. Roméo et Juliette, premiered in 1966, is an immortal work in which Béjart speaks up for love and pacifism.

Béjart's ballets full of life and love will surely penetrate and uplift our souls in these troubled times.
