Following its triumphant tour in 2018, Birmingham Royal Ballet returns to Japan for the first time under the leadership of Carlos Acosta, from Friday 20 June to Saturday 5 July 2025.
Birmingham Royal Ballet will present two of the most exuberant productions in its rich repertoire: Sir Peter Wright's magnificent production of The Sleeping Beauty, that enchanted the audiences in Japan on the last tour, and former Company Director Sir David Bintley's spectacular fairytale, Cinderella, to be revived in Japan for the first time in 10 years.
Full of demanding choreography, and sumptuous set and costumes, the two productions will be sublime showcases of the outstanding talent and artistry of both the dancers and the Company. They will be joined by the world-renowned ballerina Alina Cojocaru, who will perform the role of Princess Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, and William Bracewell, Principal of The Royal Ballet, in the role of The Prince in Cinderella.
The tour opens on Friday 20 June at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan. The Company also performs The Sleeping Beauty at FENICE SACAY, Sakai and Aichi Prefectural Art Theater, Nagoya.
