Performance Dates & Tickets
A sumptuous triple bill featuring the world premiere of Jo Kanamori's KAGUYAHIME - Act 2 will be presented at Ballet Holiday in Ueno no Mori.

The Tokyo Ballet premiered Jo Kanamori's KAGUYAHIME - Act 1 to audience and critical acclaim in November 2021. Its second act will finally be presented in a triple bill at Ballet Holiday in Ueno no Mori 2023, an annual ballet festival held during Golden Week.

The setting of KAGUYAHIME now moves to The Mikado's Court to which Kaguyahime is taken by Okina, her nursing father, blinded by greed. Kaguyahime finds herself isolated in the Court. As if the gravitational pull of the Moon affects humans, a tension is caused between Kaguyahime and courtiers, which will be portrayed by a powerful corps de ballet. Sets and costumes will be renewed to make it possible to fully express the power of music and dance in the drama.

The triple bill will also feature two beautiful masterpieces: In the Night by Jerome Robbins, a legendary choreographer for West Side Story, and Spring and Fall by John Neumeier, Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer of the Hamburg Ballet.

Join us for the sumptuous triple bill at Ballet Holiday in Ueno no Mori 2023.
