Asmik Grigorian in Concert

"One of the fiercest dramatic talents in the field" (The New York Times) , Lithuanian soprano Asmik Grigorian's "versatility is astounding" (The Times) with a "wild voice[that is]rich and dark" (Le Monde).

Grigorian made her operatic debut in Christiansand, Norway, in 2004 as Donna Anna directed by Jonathan Millar. Since 2011, she has performed internationally at various opera houses. With the triumphant performance in Salome at the Salzburg Festival in 2019 praised as "a Salome to end all Salomes" (Financial Times), she made a name for herself in the world and has continued to perform an array of roles at most prestigious opera houses including the Wiener Staatsoper, the Royal Opera House, the Bayerische Staatsoper, La Scala and the Beyreuth Festspeile.

In the two concerts on May 15 and 17, at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Asmik Grigorian will showcase a full breadth of her artistry with two characteristic programs, the first part in common with arias from Rusalka, Evgeny Onegin, The Queen of Spades, and different second parts: one with arias of Puccini, the other of Richard Strauss. Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by the Armenian conductor Karen Durgaryan. Two concerts not to be missed.
