Cancelled: The Ninth Symphony performances in April / May 2021

It is with great regret that we announce the performances of The Ninth Symphony - choreographed by Maurice Béjart, to be performed by The Tokyo Ballet and the Béjart Ballet Lausanne in April / May 2021 have been cancelled because of the unpredictability of immigration restrictions due to the current COVID-19 situation worldwide.

The Ninth Symphony performances had originally been scheduled in April 2020 and were postponed for this spring. Ballet Holiday in Ueno no Mori Organizing Committee, Japan Performing Arts Foundation and the Béjart Ballet Lausanne have made our best efforts to make the performances possible, but unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to cancel them with a heavy heart. We apologize to our valued audiences who have been anticipating the performances but appreciate everyone's kind understanding for the unavoidable situation and your continued support.

Subscribers to the 31st NBS Ballet Premium Series and ticket holders of the cancelled performances will receive a letter with ticket details. We would appreciate your patience as it might take some time for you to receive it.

To replace the performances of The Ninth Symphony, The Tokyo Ballet will bring some performances during the 'Ballet Holiday in Ueno no Mori 2021'. Details will be announced shortly on our website.

Thank you very much for your continued support. We extend our best wishes for safety and good health to you all.
