Cast Change: Wiener Staatsoper's Le nozze di Figaro
It is with great regret that Ying Fang has had to withdraw from the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro on the Wiener Staatsoper's Japan tour due to health reasons. She will be replaced, at the recommendation of the Company, by soprano Katharina Konradi who already sang the role in the same Barrie Kosky's production with the Wiener Staatsoper in November 2023, receiving huge acclaim. It was her house debut.
We apologize to our valued audience members who have been anticipating the appearance of Ying Fang, but appreciate everyone's kind understanding. We hope you will enjoy the performance with Katharina Konradi, who will also sing in the role of Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, as scheduled.
Katharina Konradi, Soprano
Whether in opera, operetta or lieder, Katharina Konradi is a storyteller who embodies her female characters with verve, intimacy, temperament and intensity. Her full and warm soprano, which was praised by Opernglas for its 'wonderfully supple, fascinating palette of colour shades', captivates audiences and critics alike with its great radiance and cultivated emotionality. After being under contract at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden for three years at the beginning of her career, the artist made her debut as Ännchen (Der Freischütz) at the Hamburg State Opera in 2018 and has since been a permanent ensemble member of the house. She sings the major roles in her repertoire, quickly catching the attention of other prestigious stages. In 2024/25 she sang at Zurich Opera House Oscar in Un ballo in maschera and at the Bavarian State Opera Adele in Die Fledermaus. In Hamburg, she made her role debut as Gilda in Rigoletto and was heard as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. One of the highlights of the 2024/25 season was her appearance in Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic. She made her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper as Susanna in 2023.
