Born on 30 August 1964, The Tokyo Ballet turns 60 years old this year. The Company today announces organizational changes, aiming at making a new firm start for further evolution.
Artistic Director Yukari Saito will be appointed as Director, a position that has been vacant since the passing of Munetaka Iida. Director is the position that leads The Company from a broad perspective and helps support the Company's further development.
Shiori Sano who has been Ballet Mistress since 2011 will be appointed as Artistic Director. She will also continue to serve as Ballet Mistress.
The Company's former Principals Naoki Takagishi and Haruo Goto will be appointed as Artistic Associates, the new positions created to reinforce the organization.
The Company's former First Soloist Haruka Nara will be appointed as Coach, in addition to the current Coaches Kazuo Kimura and Dan Tsukamoto.
We have made these changes to enable the seamless progress of The Tokyo Ballet, while both cherishing our tradition and envisioning the 100th anniversary of the Company.
Finally, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the friends and supporters who have extended valuable support for the past 60 years and thank you for your continued support.
